“Life is about creating yourself”

This quote is what I continue to basemy life around.
One does not find themselves, they simply create themselves. Growing up as a child, my family moved from place to place. This made it difficult to make and keep friends; this is when I discovered art. It was my means of communicating to myself and all others whom I was able to meet along my journey. It was something familiar in my strange surroundings. I soon grew a fascination with the human expression and the emotions one is capable of articulating. The human face can assume tell a whole story without words. As a young girl, it was always my dream to become a well known artist and to have my art recognized. I hope to leave an impression on people by letting them see for themselves that when one has a dream and pursues it, anything is possible. A few things I have accomplished with my art include winning first place in the Thea competition, participating in art across Arkansas by donating my winning art piece to their foundation, and being part of Arkansas Paves the Way to a Better Art Understanding. I have been interviewed on live television with KHTV and was able to display my work for them. Another form of recognization includes being pictured in the Van Buren Democrat, as well as participation in various art shows at the Fairfield Bay Country Club. I am currently attending Savannah College of Art and Design on a full tuition scholarship based off of my art portfolio, and am constantly looking for any opportunities to have my work displayed throughout savannah and the surrounding areas. I have been commissioning art work for individuals ranging from portraits of people to pets, landscapes and whatever else imaginable. I work in a plethora of media and styles. It is difficult to express how meaningful art is to me. It has given me a means of unique self-expression. I know that a career in art is filled with challenges. I welcome the opportunity to continue to search, confront, and grow, both as an individual and as an artist, because as I stated once before, life is about creating yourself.
