Vanessa Readi is a Peruvian unconventional character who likes to do many things… With a past history of painting shows and exhibitions in her hometown Lima, she has spent the past 4 years in Savannah studying architecture at the Savannah College of Art and Design, where she currently achieved a Bachelor degree and is pursuing a Master Degree. Besides Painting and Drawing, she illustrates the Botanical Species coloring Books for the LeConte Woodmanston Plantation. A truly beautiful natural site. Her painting style has been described as surreal and abstract, yet emotional. She likes to mix elements and pieces, mixing sculpture and painting to convey the energy on each dimension of the pieces.
She speaks fluent Spanish, Italian, English and a little French, enjoys learning languages, cooking and inventing recipes, biking in acrobatic ways, practicing cultural dances, playing the Guitar and Mandolin and drawing scenes and streetscapes of Savannah. She works as a street artist by the squares and riverside on the weekends.
About the Paintings:
Theme and title of collection “Sparks of Sanity” – Currently exhibited at The Horizon Gallery
Sparks of Sanity is the essence that represents each piece of art. The work expresses in symbols the questions that are never spoken: The secrets that are meant to remain silent, yet speak so loudly and boldly to every individual in a unique and personal manner.
The art conveys the energy that is put into it, giving something different every time: With each piece, questions are made on subliminal matters and the nature of people’s actions, consequences, philosophies. The themes constantly evoke metaphors, ironies, memories, or stories. Something to think about, something unresolved…something that needs to be put in colors and lines, and harmonize in canvas or paper because it is floating in thin air.
Every spark of sanity is a mix of elements; smooth or rough, clashing or blending, still or energetic, creating or destroying - A catharsis for the soul.
